Get Your Niche Blog Noticed

You’ve chosen your niche blogging market, you’ve chosen your affiliate products, and you’ve got your blog all set up and you’ve even written a few blog entries.

You check your stats and you find that you are the only person visiting your blog. How is a niche blogging business owner to market a blog? Actually, marketing a blog that is unique is quite simple. In fact, it is easier to market a blog than it is to market a website in most cases.

The marketing of your blog starts with the blog. Take a look at it. Is it easy to navigate? Are the colors appealing? Are the ads relevant to the content? What about your writing? Is it clear? Do you spell right or use a spelling checker? Have someone else take a look at your blog and make sure that everything looks okay.

Does your blog support RSS? In today’s blogging world, RSS is important. In the administration area, you want to make sure that people who want to comment on your posts are registered members to reduce the amount of spam that you receive on your blog as well.

With your blog ready to go, start searching for other blogs on related topics. Become avid readers of those blogs, and make sure that you refer to them in your own posts, and that you leave comments related to the blog entries on those other blogs as well. Working with other people’s related blogs is one of the fastest ways to build a readership – especially if the other blogs already have a large readership.

Don’t spam other people’s blogs with unrelated comments! Make sure that the comments you are leaving – with a link to your own blog – are relevant to the specific post that you are commenting on! You want to be an active participant, so choose a number of blogs to visit each and everyday that will work in your schedule, and make sure that you leave time for your own blog as well.

Next, make sure that your blog is listed in all of the blog directories you can find. A good place to start is The Blog Search Engine at http://www.blogsearchengine.com/ . Do a search for blog directories to find others. Also, each time you make an entry to your blog, you need to use Ping-O-Matic to have it pinged. Visit Ping-O-Matic at http://www.pingomatic.com .

Join Blog traffic exchange communities such as Blog Explosion at http://www.blogexplosion.com/ . This works much like the old traffic exchange and banner exchange sites worked in the past, but they are much more effective. Do a search for ‘blog traffic exchange’ in Google to find even more sites like Blog Explosion.

When you write your blog entries, make sure that you use keywords throughout the text. Use SEO optimization for your blog just as you would for a website, and make sure that you submit your blog to all the major search engines. You should also strongly consider using PPC advertising through Google AdWords or Yahoo Search Marketing.

Blog often or people will lose interest. Schedule time to write your blog entries and to perform blog maintenance. You should blog at least once a week, but shoot for daily blogging if possible. Encourage your readers to participate as well – people like to interact and they feel that their opinions are just as important as yours. People also like to belong to something.
